The effect it has on the mouth is known as \"mala\" in Mandarin, which we think is best described as a tingling, electrifying almost numbing sensation. Initially quite juicy, lots of citrus and sweetness, the chilli spice starts to build, but it's not a super hot drink. The insane part is the potency of the Szechuan, which picks up as the medium-mild chilli tones down.
